The UCI BMX World Houston stream World Championships are held annually and the winner of each event is crowned the BMX Cycling World Champion. This three-day cycling festival should not be confused with the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, which is the international BMX racing series held at numerous locations throughout the year.
The UCI awards a gold medal and a rainbow jersey to the winner. Silver and bronze medals are awarded to the second and third place contestants. World champions wear their rainbow jersey until the following year's championship, but they may wear it only in the type of event in which they won it.
With some of the worlds best riders race in Bathurst next year for the bmx houston online Supercross World Cup, Bathurst Regional Council has begun making sure the track is ready for the event in the summer of 2020.
The track was originally built in 2016 at the cost of $1.5 million to host the national titles, but come February 2020, riders will be flocking to the Central West city for the massive event which will act as qualifying for the 2020 UCI BMX World Championships
Work begun on Monday, July 29, with works to bring the track up to international standard according to Bathurst Regional Council director engineering services Darren Sturgiss.
"Track improvements have commenced to ensure that the track will continue to be rated at an international standard," he said.
"Initial work is being performed by Council staff, with a specialist contractor engaged to shape the track surface and ensure UCI compliance."
Mr Sturgiss said he expects the works will take approximately two months to complete.
